**Judges 19:18** โ€” *"We are traveling from Bethlehem in Judah to the remote hill country of Ephraim, where I am from. I went to Bethlehem in Judah, and now I am going to the house of the LORD; but no one has taken me into his home."*

A Levite โ€” a man set apart for sacred service โ€” stands at the city gate of Gibeah with nowhere to sleep. He is not a stranger wandering aimlessly. He is a man *going to the house of the LORD*, and still, no door opens.

Hospitality in ancient Israel was covenant obligation, not optional courtesy. Deuteronomy 10:19 commands it plainly. Hebrews 13:2 echoes it forward into our own age.

When the sacred goes unrecognized by those who should know better, something has already broken inside a community long before the visible collapse arrives.

Scripture reminds us โ€” the condition of our welcome reveals the condition of our worship.

Walk with that truth today.
