**Deuteronomy 12:12** โ *"And you shall rejoice before the LORD your Godโyou, your sons and daughters, your menservants and maidservants, and the Levite within your gates, since he has no portion or inheritance among you."*
Notice who is named at the end of this list: the Levite. Set apart for sacred service, he held no land, no harvest, no inheritance in the soil. And yet God specifically draws him into the circle of rejoicing.
The covenant table was never designed for those who had earned their seat. It was designed for those who were *called* to it.
The Levite's portion was not land โ it was the LORD Himself. And so the community was charged to make room, to rejoice *with* him, not merely *near* him.
Scripture reminds us that belonging is a steward's responsibility, not a stranger's request.
Consider the people in your gates today โ those without portion โ and what it would mean to draw them fully into the rejoicing.
