**Acts 12:5** โ€” *"So Peter was kept in prison, but the church was fervently praying to God for him."*

Notice the contrast held in a single verse โ€” chains on one side, intercession on the other.

Peter did not pray himself out of that cell. The church prayed *for* him. This is covenant community at its most costly: showing up in the dark hours for someone who cannot show up for themselves.

The word *fervently* here carries weight. This was not a polite mention at the close of a gathering. This was sustained, earnest, corporate wrestling before God โ€” the kind that bends knees and loses track of time.

Scripture reminds us that the church is not merely an audience for individual faith. It is the body through which God moves on behalf of the bound, the weary, the forgotten.

Walk with someone in their prison season this week. Your intercession may be the very door God uses to set them free.
