**2 Samuel 15:20** โ *"You arrived only yesterday; should I make you wander around with us today while I do not know where I am going? Go back and take your brothers with you. May the LORD show you loving devotion and faithfulness."*
David is fleeing his own son. His throne is collapsing beneath him. And yet โ in that raw, disorienting hour โ he releases Ittai the Gittite with a blessing rather than clutching him as a resource.
This is covenant character under pressure. David does not hoard loyalty when loyalty is scarce. He offers freedom, and then entrusts the outcome to God's *hesed* โ that untranslatable Hebrew word woven through this very blessing: loving devotion.
The steward who truly walks with God can release what he most needs, because his security rests in the Shepherd, not the flock surrounding him.
Consider the grip of your own hand today โ what you are holding that God may be inviting you to release with blessing.
