**Judges 19:10** โ€” *"But the man was unwilling to spend the night. He got up and departed, and arrived opposite Jebus (that is, Jerusalem), with his two saddled donkeys and his concubine."*

A man leaves safety at dusk, pressing forward into uncertain terrain rather than accepting offered shelter. The Levite's urgency here is not courage โ€” it is the kind of restlessness that refuses wisdom's invitation to pause.

Scripture reminds us that Jebus โ€” not yet Jerusalem, not yet the City of David โ€” waited ahead. What followed on that road was catastrophe born from a single refusal to rest.

There is a covenant rhythm to rest. To sojourn wisely is to recognize when the road ahead demands that you stop, not press on. Wisdom is not always forward motion. Sometimes the most faithful stewardship of your life, your household, your people, is to dwell where grace has opened a door for the night.

Let us reflect on where we are moving too quickly past shelter God has provided.
