**Matthew 7:25** โ *"The rain fell, the torrents raged, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because its foundation was on the rock."*
Notice what Jesus does not say โ that the storm passed the house by.
The rain still fell. The torrents still raged. The winds still beat. The promise was never shelter from the storm; it was *stability within it.*
This is the pastoral reality so many stewards of faith quietly carry: obedience to Christ does not clear the sky. It anchors the soul. The builder in this parable had already made his choice *before* the storm arrived โ which is precisely the point. Covenant faithfulness is not crisis management. It is a life constructed, stone by stone, on the words of Christ.
By grace, the rock holds what we cannot hold ourselves.
Let us reflect on what we are building โ and on what we are building it upon.
