**2 Samuel 3:6** โ *"During the war between the house of Saul and the house of David, Abner had continued to strengthen his position in the house of Saul."*
Abner was a skilled commander โ but he was building equity in a kingdom God had already withdrawn His hand from. Every maneuver, every alliance, every calculated step served a house whose season had passed.
Scripture reminds us that loyalty to a fading structure can masquerade as faithfulness. Abner wasn't wicked in the obvious sense. He was *strategic* โ in the wrong direction.
Proverbs 19:21 speaks plainly: *"Many are the plans in a person's heart, but it is the LORD's purpose that prevails."* And David's house โ messy, imperfect, beloved of God โ was where the covenant was moving.
Walk with discernment. Not every strong position is a God-ordained one.
Consider where you are investing your strength โ and whether that ground is being held by grace or by self-preservation.
