**Hosea 4:5** β€” *"You will stumble by day, and the prophet will stumble with you by night; so I will destroy your motherβ€”"*

A harsh word. But notice what precedes it: a people who rejected knowledge, whose priests forgot the covenant, whose prophets spoke without standing before God. The stumbling was not sudden β€” it was the accumulated weight of abandoned faithfulness.

When leadership loses its anchor in the Word, the whole household staggers. The prophet stumbles *with* the people β€” not ahead of them, not guiding them, but falling alongside them in the same darkness.

Scripture reminds us that God holds shepherds to a higher account precisely because the flock follows where they lead.

Walk with integrity before those entrusted to your care. Not because collapse is always visible coming β€” but because the covenant demands faithfulness long before the stumbling begins.

Let us reflect on where we lead, and whether the light we carry is borrowed or truly dwelling within us.
