In Phoenix Wednesday night, the Cubs walked away with nothing but frustration after umpires missed a critical balk call that could have changed everything. Chicago fell two to nothing to the Diamondbacks, and Pete Crow-Armstrong made no effort to hide his anger, demanding the crew get it right when it matters most.
Meanwhile in Chicago, the White Sox handed the Texas Rangers a beating and got some history along the way. Rookie Tristan Peters launched his fifth consecutive home run, a two-run shot in the fifth inning that put the Sox up six to two and tied a franchise record. Peters and Munetaka Murakami are now the only rookies in White Sox history to go deep in five straight games in the same season.
Over in New York, Milwaukee came in short a starter after Dustin May took a hundred and six mile per hour line drive off his right shoulder blade on his very first pitch and had to leave the game. The Brewers didn't flinch. Brice Turang crushed a three-run homer and Milwaukee rolled to an eight to one rout of the Mets.
That's your play-by-play. Sports Desk, back to the booth.
