Good evening, you're listening to Markets Desk.
Equities finished the session in a holding pattern Wednesday, with the S&P five hundred essentially flat, down just two hundredths of a percent, as traders held their breath ahead of Nvidia's highly anticipated earnings report. The Nasdaq edged fractionally higher, and futures pointed to a quiet overnight session, signaling that the market is in a genuine wait-and-see posture.
Shifting to enterprise software, Salesforce bounced hard in after-hours trade, climbing more than twelve percent after CEO Marc Benioff pushed back forcefully against what he called the SaaSpocalypse narrative — the fear that AI is gutting demand for traditional software subscriptions. Benioff also announced a new partnership with Anthropic, integrating Salesforce data and workflows directly into the Claude AI platform, a move designed to signal that Salesforce is building with AI rather than being displaced by it.
Meanwhile in the energy complex, WTI crude slipped to a one-and-a-half-week low, settling down fractionally as traders priced in growing optimism that the Strait of Hormuz could reopen following recent geopolitical tensions. Gasoline futures moved in the opposite direction, gaining just over one percent, suggesting some residual tightness in refined product markets even as the crude picture softens.
That's the tape. Markets Desk, signing off the floor.
