Oklahoma City put the Lakers on notice in a big way Tuesday night, rolling through Game one of the Western Conference semifinals without breaking a sweat. The Thunder looked sharp, controlled, and frankly a level above Los Angeles from wire to wire. This series may be shorter than anyone in Hollywood wants to admit.
Meanwhile up in the NHL playoffs, Nathan MacKinnon is simply refusing to let Colorado slow down. MacKinnon scored and set up two more as the Avalanche dismantled Minnesota five to two, pushing their series lead to two games to none and their overall playoff record to a stunning six and zero. Filip Gustavsson got the start in net for the Wild and had a rough welcome to that assignment.
And over in the Eastern Conference, Cleveland traveled to Detroit for Game one against the Pistons and left with a loss that had more to do with themselves than anything the Pistons drew up. Unforced errors plagued the Cavaliers throughout, and James Harden had one of those nights where the moment felt slightly larger than he did. Cleveland has the talent to respond, but they cannot keep beating themselves.
