The two thousand twenty six NFL Draft is delivering some serious fireworks, starting in Kansas City where the Chiefs traded up to grab cornerback Mansoor Delane at number six overall. The LSU standout was a unanimous All-American and First-Team All-SEC after just one season with the Tigers, and Andy Reid's defense just got a whole lot more dangerous in the secondary.
Meanwhile in Los Angeles, the Rams made a move that's equal parts present and future, selecting Alabama quarterback Ty Simpson thirteenth overall. Matthew Stafford holds the keys to that offense for now, but Simpson's arrival signals the Rams are done waiting to figure out what comes next when one of the game's most respected veterans finally hangs it up.
And in Las Vegas, the Raiders ended a nineteen-year drought by drafting a quarterback in the first round — Fernando Mendoza — and the contrast with their last attempt couldn't be sharper. JaMarcus Russell is still the ghost that haunts that franchise, but by all accounts Mendoza is a completely different profile, and Raiders fans are cautiously, genuinely excited for the first time in a long time.
