Gaybrick's vision is a frictionless commerce layer where artificial intelligence handles transactions end to end, a structural shift that could redraw the entire payments landscape and pressure legacy e-commerce infrastructure.
That agentic future, though, is not without its growing pains. One founder gave an AI agent his Resy credentials to snag a reservation at a sought-after New York restaurant, and the bot promptly got him banned from the platform. He spent weeks fighting for reinstatement, a cautionary tale that autonomous agents without guardrails can cause real-world consequences fast.
On the trade front, the Trump administration moved to cut tariffs on imported beef, a largely symbolic gesture aimed at softening consumer sticker shock at the grocery counter. The timing is notable given that beef imports are already running at record levels in two thousand twenty six, meaning the policy may do little to structurally change supply dynamics or meaningfully cool prices at the register.
