Out in Las Vegas, Klint Kubiak is keeping everyone on edge. The Raiders head coach refused to name a starting quarterback with just one week of preseason remaining, saying flat out he doesn't want anyone getting comfortable. That competition stays alive heading into the final audition.
Meanwhile the Raiders' secondary is drawing just as much scrutiny as the quarterback room. NFL Nation reporters coming out of preseason week two are asking whether that young defensive backfield is actually ready for the regular season grind. The answer isn't clear yet, and with the schedule these guys are facing, they better figure it out fast.
Shifting to the WNBA, Atlanta came into Los Angeles and made it look easy. The Dream jumped out nine straight after the Sparks opened the scoring, built a double-digit lead in the first quarter, and never let the Sparks breathe. Tonie Morgan and the home side had no answers, and this one was effectively over before halftime.
