In Cleveland, history was made Saturday night at Progressive Field. The Guardians became just the third American League franchise to reach ten thousand wins, a milestone one hundred and twenty five years in the making, knocking off the San Diego Padres six to one in front of the home crowd. A number that big speaks for itself.
Shifting to the gridiron, the Chicago Bears got a serious look at something in their preseason opener against Cleveland. Assistant head coach Antwaan Randle El took over play-calling duties in the second half, and what followed was a twenty four to nothing run that turned a close game into a thirty four to ten statement win. That's a name to remember going into the regular season.
And in Springfield, Massachusetts, the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame got a little louder Friday night. Candace Parker, Elena Delle Donne, Doc Rivers, Mike D'Antoni, and Amar'e Stoudemire were all inducted into the class of twenty twenty six. Stoudemire and D'Antoni both drew standing ovations, crediting the Phoenix Suns with shaping everything they became in this game. A night the sport won't forget quickly.
That's your play-by-play. Sports Desk, back to the booth.
