In Milwaukee, the Brewers are getting a serious shot in the arm as outfielder Jackson Chourio and first baseman Andrew Vaughn are both returning from fractured bones in their left hands. This lineup needed the firepower badly, and getting both bats back at the same time is about as good a scenario as the Brewers could have hoped for.
Meanwhile out in Los Angeles, the Lakers are heading into Game one against the Oklahoma City Thunder with a massive question mark. Luka Doncic will not be available for the playoff opener, leaving JJ Redick to lean heavily on LeBron James and whoever else can step up. Against a Thunder squad with this much momentum, that is a serious hill to climb.
And over in Philadelphia, the Phillies are catching a break of their own. Closer Jhoan Duran, sidelined since mid-April, is expected to be activated ahead of a three-game series against the Athletics. Getting your closer back right as the schedule heats up is exactly the kind of timing a contender needs.
