Welcome to Markets Desk, here's what's moving.
Soybean futures reversed course into Thursday's close, finishing one to nearly six cents higher in the front months after rumors of Chinese demand interest sparked late-session buying. The cmdtyView national cash price settled at eleven dollars and thirty-two cents, up three cents on the day, with the complex recovering six to nine cents off its intraday lows.
Shifting to the grain complex more broadly, wheat couldn't find the same footing. Chicago soft red winter contracts dropped one and a half to eleven cents, while Kansas City hard red winter led losses with front-month contracts down ten to nearly fourteen cents. Weak export demand and pressure from global supply concerns weighed throughout the session.
Away from the pits, a significant legal development for Meta. A New Mexico judge ordered the company to pay five hundred sixty-seven million dollars into a state abatement fund after a jury found Meta violated the state's unfair practices act in connection with child harms. The ruling adds to the company's growing legal exposure on platform safety and could signal how other states approach similar litigation going forward.
That's the tape. Markets Desk, signing off the floor.
