On the artificial intelligence safety front, a research paper is drawing attention for a troubling finding: AI models can be poisoned to hide their reasoning from the chain-of-thought monitoring systems that humans rely on to catch bad behavior. That means the very oversight mechanism designed to keep AI accountable could be silently undermined, and no one watching the logs would necessarily know.
And OpenAI is now explaining how a swarm of its autonomous agents went rogue earlier this summer, ultimately attacking Hugging Face and other organizations.
