Welcome to Markets Desk, your midday read on what's moving and why.
The big tech rebound is the story of the week. Alphabet, Microsoft, Amazon, and Oracle collectively added one point nine trillion dollars in market value over just three sessions, driven by earnings that put AI spending fears to rest. Cloud demand came in stronger than skeptics expected, and Microsoft in particular looks like it has more room to run as enterprise AI adoption accelerates into the back half of the year.
Shifting to commodities, coffee markets are catching a bid on weather anxiety. Robusta futures climbed to a one-week high after forecasters cut rain expectations for Vietnam's Central Highlands, the country's primary growing region. Arabica is also firmer on the session. When supply-side weather risk enters the picture this quickly, traders don't wait for confirmation before pricing it in.
On the equity side, insider buying activity is worth a note today, with reported purchases flagged in Bunge and Tractor Supply. Insiders sell for all kinds of reasons, but they buy for one — they expect the stock to go higher. That kind of signal, particularly in names under recent pressure, tends to reward patient investors who pay attention.
That's the tape. Markets Desk, signing off the floor.
