The Boston Red Sox are playing their best baseball in years, and Saturday night in Los Angeles they proved it. After surrendering a three-run lead and watching Dodger Stadium come unglued, the Sox answered with force, rolling to a nine to four victory. That win gave Boston twenty-one wins in July, a new franchise record for winning percentage in a single month.
And with that momentum building, the front office may not be done. Reports are swirling that the Red Sox are pursuing Baltimore catcher Adley Rutschman before the August third trade deadline. Boston has a clear need behind the plate, and Rutschman is an All-Star caliber talent. A deal of that magnitude would send a message that this team is all-in right now.
Shifting to the NFC North, Kyler Murray appears to be pulling away in Minnesota's quarterback competition, which is about as surprising as a sunrise. The Vikings brought Murray in to win the job, and it looks like that's exactly what's happening.
