Good evening and welcome to Markets Desk, your end-of-week wrap on the stories moving money.
Roblox delivered a gut punch to investors after guiding third-quarter bookings down as much as eighteen percent from a year ago, a range of one point five seven six billion to one point six five three billion dollars. The company also pulled its full-year outlook entirely, and the driver here was deliberate — an internal algorithm change that management chose to make, not a demand shock. That distinction matters, but markets rarely forgive self-inflicted wounds this size.
Turning to the grain pits, wheat closed out July under serious pressure, with Chicago soft red winter contracts shedding eighteen to twenty-four cents on the session and September finishing the week down nearly thirty-nine cents. Corn followed suit, losing up to five cents Friday on spillover weakness from wheat, favorable crop rains, and month-end positioning. December corn still held a twenty-eight cent weekly gain, which tells you the longer-term supply picture hasn't dramatically shifted.
Cotton bucked the commodity selloff, rallying fifty-three to one hundred twelve points on the day, with December posting a one hundred eighty-one point weekly gain. The rebound in crude oil, up three dollars and twenty-one cents per barrel, and a firmer dollar provided the tailwind, while Friday's Commitment of Traders data showed managed money spec funds repositioning meaningfully into the long side.
That's the tape. Markets Desk, signing off the floor.
