You're locked in to Sports Desk, let's get into it.
Tucker Kraft is back. The Green Bay Packers activated their star tight end off the physically unable to perform list Friday, less than nine months after tearing the ACL in his right knee. That's a remarkably fast return, and the Packers offense just got a whole lot more dangerous heading into camp.
Meanwhile, Tony Romo's broadcasting future is suddenly very much in question. CBS Sports placed the NFL analyst on leave following his arrest last week on suspicion of operating while intoxicated. Romo has been one of the most recognizable voices in football coverage, but right now the network is keeping its distance while the situation plays out, and nobody knows how this ends.
Over in Detroit, the Lions got some unwelcome news from training camp Friday when interior defensive lineman Alim McNeill left practice after getting caught up in a pile-up during eleven-on-eleven drills. McNeill is being evaluated for injury, and the timing stings — this is a guy who was already working his way back from a torn ACL last season and never looked fully himself. Detroit can't afford another setback from their best run stopper up front.
That's your play-by-play. Sports Desk, back to the booth.
