The chipmaker reported its strongest revenue growth in more than fifteen years, with its data center and AI business surging fifty-nine percent under CEO Lip-Bu Tan. Shares jumped sharply in after-hours trading, signaling the market believes this turnaround has real legs.
Turning to trade, the Trump administration is moving aggressively again, rolling out sweeping new tariffs on roughly sixty trading partners as the earlier pause on global duties expires. The White House is framing this as leverage, but markets are watching closely for retaliation signals, particularly from Asia, where supply chain exposure runs deep.
And on the macro side, the dollar climbed Thursday, up roughly a third of a percent on the index, as oil prices surged more than six percent following a Houthi attack on a tanker in the Red Sea.
