Travis Vokolek is stepping away from football. The former Cardinals tight end announced his retirement this week, citing a neck injury sustained during the two thousand twenty five season. At just twenty six years old, it's a difficult end to what looked like a promising career at the position. Our thoughts are with him.
Shifting to college football, Lane Kiffin is making headlines before LSU even takes a snap. At SEC Media Days, the new Tigers head coach revealed he's gone dark on social media, deleting all the apps off his phone after a challenge from his son Knox. And it sounds like it's sticking — Kiffin says the distance has been good for him. Whether that changes the circus around him remains to be seen.
And Kiffin had more to say — this time on the so-called Lane Kiffin Rule, a Congressional proposal that would ban coaches from leaving programs mid-season. Kiffin actually endorsed it, spending sixteen of his twenty five minutes at the podium laying out his case. The man who once left Tennessee for Alabama at halftime of a bowl game is now the rule's biggest supporter. College football, never a dull moment.
