In the WNBA, Angel Reese is speaking out after head coach Sandy Brondello of the New York Liberty was suspended one game for calling her a protected species. Reese accepted the apology but made clear she was grateful the league took action, sending a message that that kind of language has no place in the game.
Meanwhile, the Boston Red Sox are absolutely rolling right now. Thirteen straight wins after dismantling the Tampa Bay Rays six to one on Sunday. Willson Contreras went deep for a two-run shot and Sonny Gray was dominant through six innings, giving up just one run. That streak ties the second longest in franchise history, and this team is not showing any signs of slowing down.
And over on the North Side of Chicago, Shota Imanaga was simply brilliant. The Cubs lefty threw seven shutout innings, allowing six hits with one walk in a ten to one demolition of the Minnesota Twins. Nico Hoerner did serious damage with a bases-loaded triple and four RBIs, and Alex Bregman went deep early. Chicago looked like a complete team from first pitch to last.
That's your play-by-play. Sports Desk, back to the booth.
