Paige Bueckers is making the WNBA MVP conversation impossible to ignore. The Dallas Wings guard dropped thirty-four points Sunday, pushing Dallas to four straight wins, and in doing so became the first guard in sixteen years to accomplish that kind of sustained scoring dominance at this level. The case is building fast.
Meanwhile, over in Philadelphia at Citizens Bank Park, the All-Star Futures Game delivered a moment worth remembering. Tampa Bay's Nathan Flewelling took home MVP honors after a two-run homer helped the American League roll past the National League six to one. Theo Gillen, the Rays' top-ranked prospect, got things started with an RBI single in the fifth, and from there the AL never looked back. The future of baseball showed up and showed out.
On the trade front, the Phillies are reportedly circling an outfielder from Arizona who's been posting a five-sixty-five OPS this season. That number doesn't exactly scream impact bat, but Philadelphia is clearly hunting for right-handed depth before the deadline, and the D-Backs may be open for business. Whether this one gets done is another question entirely.
That's your play-by-play. Sports Desk, back to the booth.
