In Cleveland, Evan Mobley delivered when it mattered most. The former USC big man dropped twenty three points in Game Five as the Cavaliers held off the Toronto Raptors despite surrendering one hundred three points through three quarters. Cleveland now leads that first round series three games to two, and Mobley is making a serious case for himself as a franchise cornerstone.
Meanwhile out west, the Anaheim Ducks are moving on. Chris Kreider, Troy Terry, and Leo Carlsson each put up three point nights as Anaheim ousted the Edmonton Oilers and punched their ticket to the second round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. It is the Ducks' first playoff series win since two thousand seventeen, and this one stings for Edmonton in more ways than one.
Speaking of the Oilers, the offseason questions are already piling up. Connor Ingram and Tristan Jarry both struggled between the pipes, and with complicated contract situations attached to each goaltender, Edmonton faces a genuinely difficult rebuild in net.
