Chip stocks are driving the tape higher today, with the Nasdaq one hundred up better than one and a half percent while the S&P five hundred adds six tenths. Nvidia and the broader semiconductor complex are leading the charge, giving the index a decisive edge over the Dow, which is essentially flat on the session.
Shifting to the soft commodities complex, cocoa is exploding higher, with New York September futures up more than thirteen percent and hitting their best level in nearly six months. The catalyst is straightforward — heavy rainfall across West Africa is raising crop damage concerns, and traders are pricing in supply disruption quickly and aggressively.
Coffee is moving in the same direction and with similar force. September arabica futures are up nearly ten percent, touching five-month highs after Safras and Mercado reported Brazil's two thousand twenty six to twenty seven harvest is only fifty-two percent complete, running well behind the pace the market had anticipated. Robusta is also higher by more than five percent, signaling the supply anxiety is broad-based across the coffee market, not isolated to a single variety.
