You're locked in to Sports Desk, let's get after it.
Toronto is officially building for the future. The Maple Leafs have signed Gavin McKenna, their first overall pick in the two thousand twenty six NHL Draft, to a three-year entry-level contract. McKenna arrives with enormous expectations, and Leafs fans are already dreaming about what this kid can become in blue and white.
Shifting to the hardwood, the Philadelphia seventy-sixers are making serious noise this offseason under new President of Basketball Operations Mike Gansey. The latest buzz has the Sixers being connected to LeBron James in free agency, and while nothing is done, Gansey is clearly swinging for the fences trying to get this talented roster past the second round for the first time since two thousand one.
And over in NASCAR, Kyle Larson heads to Chicagoland Speedway this weekend hungry to snap a winless stretch. Larson has four top-five finishes in six Cup starts on that bumpy D-shaped oval in Joliet, and if anyone in the Hendrick Motorsports stable knows how to find speed on a mile-and-a-half track, it is him. Expect him to be a factor Sunday.
That's your play-by-play. Sports Desk, back to the booth.
