The chip sector is taking a serious hit in Asia, with Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix both shedding more than seven percent in early Thursday trade. The surge suggests that despite macro uncertainty, boardrooms are making long-horizon bets, using consolidation as a tool to secure competitive footing in a rapidly shifting technology landscape.
