Norman Powell is heading to Chicago, and he's getting paid to do it. The veteran guard has agreed to a two-year, forty-five million dollar deal with the Bulls, per Shams Charania at ESPN. Chicago had the cap space and they used it aggressively, landing a proven scorer who can create off the dribble and knock down shots at a high clip.
Meanwhile, another guard is finding a new home as Marcus Smart has agreed to join the Houston Rockets on a two-year, thirteen million dollar deal, with a player option on that second year. Smart brings defensive intensity and veteran leadership to a young Rockets squad still building its identity. At thirteen million over two years, Houston is getting real value for a player who's won Defensive Player of the Year.
And if you didn't already know, today is Bobby Bonilla Day, the most beloved quirk on the baseball calendar. The New York Mets are cutting a check to a man who last wore their uniform back in nineteen ninety-nine, the result of a deferred payment agreement that has the club paying Bonilla over one point one million dollars annually through two thousand thirty-five. Only in baseball, folks.
That's your play-by-play. Sports Desk, back to the booth.
