In the Bronx last night, the Detroit Tigers handed the Yankees a seven to three loss, and it wasn't pretty for New York. Detroit jumped on them early, scoring seven runs in the first four innings, aided by a pair of costly errors, and AJ Hinch picked up a milestone win in the process. The Tigers needed this one badly after back-to-back gut-punch losses to Houston over the weekend.
The bigger story coming out of Yankee Stadium though is the health of Jazz Chisholm. The Yankees second baseman was placed in concussion protocol after a violent collision with outfielder Jasson Dominguez in the fourth inning while both players chased down a fly ball. Chisholm left the game and did not return. The Yankees will need updates before their next contest.
Meanwhile over in Toronto, the Mets handed the Blue Jays a gift-wrapped Little League home run. George Springer went all the way around the bases after Juan Soto misplayed a sinking line drive in left, and center fielder AJ Ewing compounded the damage with a botched backup throw. Two Mets, one baseball, zero results.
That's your play-by-play. Sports Desk, back to the booth.
