In Tampa, the Rays came within two outs of baseball immortality last night. Casey Legumina and Ian Seymour were absolutely untouchable through eight innings against the Royals, but Craig Kimbrel stepped in to close it out and surrendered a ninth-inning home run, ending the combined no-hit bid just one out short of the finish line. Heartbreak doesn't begin to cover it.
Out of Charlotte, the basketball world is still processing the LaMelo Ball trade to Minnesota. The Timberwolves made a bold, high-risk move to pair Ball alongside Anthony Edwards, and if it clicks, that backcourt could be one of the most dangerous in the entire league. Edwards has never had a playmaker of Ball's caliber running alongside him, and the ceiling here is genuinely scary.
And a serious story out of Detroit — Lions cornerback Terrion Arnold is facing a pretrial detention hearing Monday morning after his arrest Wednesday night. Arnold, twenty-three years old, is connected to an armed robbery and kidnapping that occurred in Tampa back in February. Prosecutors are pushing to deny bond entirely. This one is far from over, and the Lions organization is watching closely.
