OpenAI has entered the chip race. The company revealed its first custom AI processor this week, a chip called Jalapeño, built in partnership with Broadcom. It's an application-specific circuit designed purely for AI inference, meaning OpenAI is now betting it can reduce its dependence on Nvidia by controlling more of its own hardware stack.

Amid that turbulence, a sharper policy debate is emerging around stablecoins. Eco CEO Ryne Saxe is pushing back against banking lobbyists who want Congress to restrict stablecoin legislation, arguing that protecting community banks from a threat that hasn't actually materialized is no reason to slow down what he calls one of the clearest genuine advances in payment infrastructure in years.
