Equities are under modest pressure this session as surging crude prices rekindle inflation fears. The S&P five hundred is off about two tenths of a percent, the Dow sliding more than half a point, while the Nasdaq is holding slight gains, up two tenths. Energy costs feeding back into inflation expectations is exactly the kind of macro headwind that keeps the Fed cautious and rate-cut timelines extended.
Shifting from the trading floor to the battlefield, the Marine Corps is moving urgently to build out counter-drone units after stress tests exposed serious gaps in their defenses. Even elite units stationed in Okinawa are struggling under simulated drone threats during training exercises. The Corps is leaning on fiber-optic drone technology in part because federal regulations restrict conventional drone training on domestic soil.
