Micron is drawing fresh attention from the bull camp as earnings approach, with at least one analyst arguing this memory upcycle still has more than a year of runway left. Shifting to commodities, sugar prices are sliding, with New York world sugar touching a one-and-three-quarters-month low after crude oil dropped sharply by five percent. Energy costs matter deeply to sugar production and shipping economics, so when crude sinks that hard, it pulls the sweetener down with it, stripping away the margin support traders had been leaning on.
Cocoa is telling the opposite story today, with New York and London contracts both jumping to one-and-a-half-week highs. The driver there is dollar weakness, with the dollar index falling to a one-week low.
