Sydney Johnson was removed from the building Saturday night, and not quietly. The Washington Mystics head coach had to be physically restrained while going at officials, and when the ejection came, law enforcement escorted him off the court. It was a scene, and the blowout loss to Atlanta only made it worse.
Meanwhile over at Barclays Center, Breanna Stewart and the New York Liberty reminded everyone why they're the team to beat. Indiana led by as many as nine in the first half, but Stewart took over after the break and rookie Pauline Astier ran the offense with poise down the stretch. Final score, eighty three to seventy five, Liberty. Caitlin Clark struggled to find her rhythm all night, finishing well below her usual standard in what was a frustrating outing for the Fever faithful.
And on the golf course, Nelly Korda is making a serious move at Riviera. The world number one closed Saturday's third round with three straight birdies, firing a four under sixty seven to pull into a share of the lead with Kim Sei-young heading into Sunday's final round of the US Women's Open. The title is right there for her.
That's your play-by-play. Sports Desk, back to the booth.
