The Stanley Cup Final has a scary subplot tonight. Vegas Golden Knights defenseman Brayden McNabb was taken to the hospital after taking a puck to the face traveling eighty-seven miles per hour, catching him right around the visor in Game Two against the Carolina Hurricanes. McNabb left the ice and did not return, and the hockey world is holding its breath waiting on updates from the Knights organization.
Shifting to baseball, the Red Sox have seen enough from Brayan Bello. Boston is optioning the right-hander down to Triple-A Worcester after another rough outing Thursday against the Baltimore Orioles. Bello has been inconsistent for stretches this season, and the Red Sox clearly feel a reset in Worcester is the right call to get him right before trusting him back in the rotation.
And over in the NFL, Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Drew Petzing is making a bold declaration about Penei Sewell. With left tackle Taylor Decker out of the picture, Sewell is moving from right to left tackle to protect Jared Goff's blindside, and Petzing says the three-time All-Pro has the tools to become the best tackle in the entire league. High praise, and now Sewell has a full season to back it up.
That's your play-by-play. Sports Desk, back to the booth.
