And a big reason that win happened was Karl-Anthony Towns. Towns made Victor Wembanyama work for everything, disrupting the Spurs' most dangerous weapon early and keeping him uncomfortable throughout. Wembanyama still flashed his brilliance, but Towns dictated the terms in ways that will have San Antonio's coaching staff drawing boards covered by morning.
Then there's Josh Hart, who finished with three points and somehow walked away as the game's most consequential player. Charges taken, possessions saved, defensive assignments locked down — Hart did the invisible work that doesn't show in a box score but absolutely shows in a final score. That's the kind of player championship teams are built around.
Meanwhile in baseball, Dave Roberts isn't hiding it — the Dodgers want Tarik Skubal. With rotation injuries piling up in Los Angeles, Roberts openly acknowledged a trade package for the Detroit ace would make the rest of the league furious. His words, not ours. And he was laughing when he said it.
