The hockey world is mourning tonight. Dennis Hull, five-time NHL All-Star and cornerstone of those great Chicago Blackhawks teams alongside his brother Bobby, has passed away at eighty-one. A two-way forward with a lethal shot, Hull helped Canada claim the iconic nineteen seventy-two Summit Series over the Soviets — one of the defining moments in hockey history. A true legend of the game, gone but not forgotten.
Over in Cincinnati, Ronald Acuña Junior put on a show. The Atlanta Braves star went deep twice as Atlanta powered past the Reds five to two at Great American Ball Park. Four solo home runs in total for the Braves, which tells you they left some runs on the table — but it didn't matter. Atlanta takes the series and Acuña continues to look every bit like the most dangerous bat in the National League.
And in the NBA, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander opened Game Seven against the San Antonio Spurs with an absolute statement. The two-time MVP came out torching from the jump, reminding everyone why Oklahoma City is built around him. Winner take all, and SGA made sure the Thunder faithful had nothing to worry about in that first half.
That's your play-by-play. Sports Desk, back to the booth.
