You're locked in to Sports Desk, let's get after it.
Greg Sankey is out here playing defense, and it's not a great look. The SEC commissioner insists his league still stands alone as the nation's best, but the scoreboard tells a different story — three straight national titles for the Big Ten, four and oh in head-to-head College Football Playoff matchups against the SEC. Bold words, zero receipts.
Meanwhile in Baltimore, the Orioles sent a message loud and clear. After getting swept and embarrassed by Tampa Bay just a week ago — embarrassed badly enough to send a broadcaster into a two-minute on-air breakdown — Baltimore turned around and swept the Rays right back, closing it out with a dominant eleven to two victory. Payback delivered, no interest charged.
And in Pittsburgh, Ian Happ came home and put on a show. The Cubs entered Wednesday night riding a ten-game losing streak, their worst stretch in recent memory, and Happ answered with a tiebreaking three-run homer, five runs batted in, and a ten to four final over the Pirates. Chicago finally exhales, and Happ gets to do it in front of the city that raised him.
That's your play-by-play. Sports Desk, back to the booth.
