This is a validation trade, not a momentum chase.
Turning to energy, BP finds itself in a leadership vacuum at the worst possible moment. Chairman Albert Manifold is out, with conduct and governance concerns cited, including questions around his use of personal devices. That puts Meg O'Neill squarely in the spotlight to execute a turnaround strategy that investors are already running out of patience to see delivered.
