You're locked in to Sports Desk, let's get into it.
Jalen Brunson is going to the NBA Finals. The Knicks swept the Cleveland Cavaliers in the Eastern Conference Finals, with Brunson averaging twenty-five point five points and seven point eight assists to claim the Larry Bird Trophy as conference MVP. New York hasn't been to the Finals since nineteen ninety-nine, and this city is absolutely buzzing.
Speaking of buzz, James Harden apparently missed the memo on that sweep. The Cavaliers guard is still insisting Cleveland is the better team despite getting taken out in four straight games. It's a bold stance, we'll give him that, but the scoreboard has a funny way of settling those debates, and right now it's doing all the talking.
Shifting to the diamond, Seattle's bats came alive in a big way Monday night. The Mariners slugged four home runs in a nine to two dismantling of the Athletics, with Luke Raley, Dominic Canzone, Randy Arozarena, and J.P. Crawford all going deep. Seattle is now within one and a half games of first place in the AL West, and the race out there is getting very real, very fast.
That's your play-by-play. Sports Desk, back to the booth.
