You're locked in to Sports Desk, let's get into it.
Twenty-seven years of waiting is finally over. The New York Knicks swept the Cleveland Cavaliers in the Eastern Conference Finals, punching their ticket to the NBA Finals for the first time since nineteen ninety-nine. Eleven straight playoff wins, a coaching overhaul, and a front office willing to make bold moves — this franchise has completely reinvented itself, and now the whole league is watching.
The Knicks will sit and wait as either the Oklahoma City Thunder or the San Antonio Spurs come out of the West. That layoff could cut both ways, but right now New York has all the momentum in the world, and nobody in that locker room looks like they're ready to slow down.
Shifting to baseball, a memorable Memorial Day in Houston. Tatsuya Imai got the start, and he and relievers Steven Okert and Alimber Santa — making his major league debut, by the way — combined to no-hit the Texas Rangers in a nine to nothing blowout. It's the first no-hitter in Major League Baseball since twenty twenty-four, and what a stage for Santa to announce his arrival.
That's your play-by-play. Sports Desk, back to the booth.
