The question traders are now asking is whether a diplomatic resolution unwinds that premium or whether the geopolitical risk simply shifts form.
With oil at these levels, the major producers are not all responding the same way. Occidental, ExxonMobil, and Chevron have each taken a distinctly different posture, ranging from aggressive capital deployment to measured shareholder returns. How each company has positioned its balance sheet heading into this rally will determine who captures the most upside if prices hold, and who is overexposed if a Hormuz deal collapses the bid.
Shifting to pharma, Viking Therapeutics is drawing serious attention as a potential acquisition target, with big pharma still hungry for late-stage obesity drug assets. The GLP-one space remains the most competitive in biopharma, and Viking's pipeline gives a would-be acquirer a credible path to market without the early-stage development risk. Valuations in this corner of biotech remain elevated, but strategic logic is hard to argue against.
