The biggest story out of the combat sports world today is the launch of MVP MMA one, the first mixed martial arts card ever streamed on Netflix. Francis Ngannou headlined in dominant fashion, knocking out Philipe Lins with a single devastating temple shot in round one before Herb Dean waved it off. A statement performance on the biggest possible stage.
The same card told a very different story for Junior dos Santos. The forty-two-year-old former UFC heavyweight champion was knocked out cold in round one by Robelis Despaigne, and the finish was emphatic enough that serious questions now surround whether dos Santos has any competitive future left in the sport.
Looking ahead on the UFC calendar, the promotion has officially locked in Conor McGregor versus Max Holloway two as the main event of UFC three twenty-nine, set for July eleventh, two thousand twenty-six in Las Vegas. McGregor returns from a five-year layoff, and Holloway arrives as arguably the most dangerous fighter he has ever faced. The commercial stakes on that one will be enormous.
