Welcome to The Light, where we pause together in the quiet of the hour.
Pope Leo the Fourteenth has departed on his sixth apostolic journey, traveling twelve days through Uruguay, Argentina, and Peru. There is something ancient and unhurried in the image of a shepherd crossing oceans, carrying a faith that insists the world is still worth walking toward.
From that journey outward, we turn inward, to questions of name and nature. Theologians at this year's Gospel Coalition gathering have been contemplating how God reveals himself through scripture, through the names he offers us as handholds in the dark. Names, after all, are not merely labels. They are invitations into relationship, small doors opened in the wall between the known and the holy.
And in Washington, a week of remarkable turns. The two thousand twenty six midterms have handed Congress to Democratic hands, leaving President Trump navigating new terrain. He has announced plans to end billions in annual aid to Israel, while first lady Melania Trump has spoken of her role in brokering a partial ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine. Power shifts, and the fragile work of peace continues.
That is this hour's reflection. Carry the light gently.
