Welcome to The Light, your quiet hour of reflection.
In Florida, a sweeping law enforcement operation led to the arrest of two hundred eighty one individuals on charges related to child predation and human trafficking. Among them, seventeen employees of Disney World and Universal Studios — a reminder that darkness can settle in the most ordinary of places, and that vigilance is not cynicism, but love.
From that shadow, we turn toward something unexpectedly tender. In northern Israel, a man who vandalized a Christian prayer hall — smashing statues, slashing sacred icons — returned to leave a handwritten apology on the very altar he had desecrated. He wrote that he did not know what came over him. In that sentence lives something ancient and honest: the bewilderment of our own worst moments, and the fragile courage it takes to ask for forgiveness.
And across the ocean, Pope Leo prepares to journey to Uruguay, Argentina, and Peru — lands where he once served quietly as a missionary and bishop for decades. There is something moving about a leader returning not as a conqueror but as someone who was already shaped by the people he now comes to serve.
That is this hour's reflection. Carry the light gently.
