Connor McDavid put on a show last night, and at this point calling it historic barely does it justice. The Edmonton captain scored on a coast-to-coast rush in the opening minute and added an assist, stretching two separate personal streaks to fifteen games against the New York Rangers. The man is simply operating on a different frequency right now.
Meanwhile in Los Angeles, the Clippers are raising some serious alarm bells. Golden State was missing Stephen Curry, Draymond Green, and Jimmy Butler on Sunday night, and the Clippers still could not get the job done. When you cannot beat a short-handed team at home, the questions about this roster stop being hypothetical and start being urgent.
And over in New York, JJ Redick had seen enough. The Lakers nearly surrendered a lead to Toronto on Sunday, and their head coach went straight at the bench after the game, holding nothing back. Luka Doncic continues carrying this team at an MVP clip, but Redick made it crystal clear that one star is not a sustainable strategy when your reserves are giving games away.
That's your play-by-play. Sports Desk, back to the booth.
