In Bloomington, Indiana head coach Curt Cignetti is keeping his cards close after the Hoosiers escaped Minnesota in overtime, twenty three to sixteen. Josh Hoover took a late hit after throwing an interception at the end of the first half, and Cignetti pulled him at the break in favor of backup Grant Wilson. The coach offered zero clarity postgame on whether Hoover starts going forward, so Wilson's window may be wider open than anyone expected heading into next week.
Meanwhile in Edmonton, Connor McDavid is doing what Connor McDavid does, only better. The Oilers captain is carrying both a points streak and an assists streak into fifteen games as Edmonton hosts the Rangers tonight. Teammates say the energy around this team on the road has been something different this season, and with McDavid locked in like this, opposing defenses have no comfortable answer.
And on the golf course, Miyu Yamashita made history at the LPGA Maybank Championship, successfully defending her title with a two-stroke victory over China's Yan Liu on Sunday. Back-to-back wins at the same tournament is no small thing on the LPGA Tour, and Yamashita made it look controlled from start to finish.
That's your play-by-play. Sports Desk, back to the booth.
